Bettgeschichte

Als ich das letzte Mal umgeräumt habe, habe ich mein IKEA-Bett vor den Kachelofen gestellt. Der ist zwar nicht mehr in Betrieb, hat aber einen fiesen Griff und deshalb brauchte mein Bett ein Kopfteil. Leider habe ich kein vorher-Foto und auch keins auf der IKEA-Seite gefunden. Deshalb kommt gleich ein Nachher-Bild und die Bitte mein kreatives Chaos drumherum und das miese Licht zu entschuldigen.

The last time I rearranged my room I put my IKEA-bed in front of the tile stove. I don't use it but it has a nasty handle and that's why my bed needed a bedhead. I didn't manage to find a proper before pic so I just started of with the after. Please don't mind my chaotic room and the bad lighting.

Ein MDF-Platte war schnell beim Baumarkt gekauft und zugeschnitten und auch innerhalb weniger Tage mit dem Bettrahmen verschraubt. Damit hatte das Bett ein funktionelles Kopfteil, das mich davor schützte mich selbst zu verletzen, aber kein dekoratives. Deshalb wollte ich es polstern. Ich kaufte zwei Schaumgummiplatten und einen Tacker und dann stagnierte das Ganze eine Weile.

Buying a MDF board cut to size in the DIY store and attaching them to the bed frame was done in a breeze. I was having a functional bedhead that was keeping me from hurting myself but not an attractive one. That's why I decided I wanted to upholster it. I bought two foam rubber boards and a tacker and that was it for a while.

Heute ging es endlich weiter: Als erstes habe ich Nessel an den unteren Rand der Rückwand getackert. Dann die Schaumstoffplatten mit doppelseitigem Klebeband fixiert und die überstehende Kante mit einem Teppichmesser zurecht geschnitten. Als nächstes habe ich (mit Hilfe, wie so oft bei diesem Projekt) den Stoff fest angezogen und auf der Rückwand fest getackert. Zuerst an der oberen Kante entlang, dann an den beiden Seiten. Als nächstes steht das Nähen eines Bezuges an. Der Stoff liegt hier schon seit einer Weile und ist auch schon gewaschen. Anscheinend wird der August der Monat für die liegen gebliebenen Projekte.

Today I finally made the next step: First I tacked musslin to the bottom end of the board. Then I secured the foam rubber boards in place with some double-faced adhesive tape and cut the side that was wider than the MDF board with a cutter. Next I (with a little help from my flatmate) pulled the muslin tight and tacked it on the back of the MDF board. First the top line next the sides. Here we are now. Next in line waits some nice fabric to be turned into the washable cover. It has been waiting for some time now and is already prewashed. August seems to become a month to finish projects I neglected for some time.
